Introduction

Marsh Sport are the appointed insurance broker to Swim Ulster.

This web page sets out details of the insurance provided as part of your membership, how to report an incident, and some frequently asked questions.

Who is covered?

  • This cover applies only to activities authorised or recognised by Swim Ulster Ltd
  • The policy covers: Swim Ulster Ltd, including affiliated clubs, and members.

What insurance do you get as part of your membership?

As part of your affiliation to Swim Ulster Ltd you automatically receive the benefit of the Combined Liability insurance.

The annual policies run from 14 April 2023 to 13 April 2024.

Policy limits are as follows:

  • Public Liability - cover for your legal liability of up to £10,000,000.
  • Professional Indemnity - cover for the club's or instructors’ legal liability of up to £10,000,000.
  • Employers Liability – cover for clubs in respect of claims for injuries made by employees or volunteers, up to £10,000,000.
  • Directors and Officers – cover for club committee members of up to £10,000,000.

Please note that member clubs, bodies, and all members of the member clubs and bodies, including honorary members, also receive the personal accident benefit. Further details can be found below.

The covers explained

Public liability insurance provides protection against legal liability for bodily injury to third parties and damage to third party property.

Products liability insurance provides protection against legal liability to pay compensation including legal costs for death or bodily injury, or damage to third party property arising from products supplied.

Cover to protect affiliated clubs, or coaches, for claims made against them which allege that a third party has suffered an injury, or financial loss caused by negligent acts, errors or omissions during coaching activities.

Protection against legal liability in respect of claims made for injuries to any volunteer or employee of the member club.

Protection for committee members and club officers against claims arising from their decision or actions whilst managing the organisation.

Please note member clubs, bodies and all members of the member clubs and bodies, including honorary members, also receive the personal accident benefit.

Insured persons:

Category A – Any member of the insured between the ages of 16 and 80 year’s inclusive resident within the British Isles.

Category B – Any member of the Insured between the ages of 5 and 15 year’s inclusive resident within the British Isles.

Category C - 

Operative Time:

Whilst an insured person is:

  1. Participating or officiating for the insured in connection with the business.
  2. Taking part in training organised by the insured.
  3. Travelling directly between residence (normal or temporary) and events as part of an organised party under the direction of the insured.
  4. On internal journey organised by the Ulster branch and not members of affiliated clubs or bodies.

Reporting an incident

All incidents that could give rise to a claim must be reported at your earliest opportunity to Marsh Sport using the details below.

Any writ or summons must be forwarded on immediately following receipt.

You should not admit liability under any circumstances as the insurers will respond to all allegations on your behalf.
