Our SportsAid athlete is on course for Glasgow 2014

Congratulations to our nominated SportsAid athlete Ryan West who had some incredible swims at the recent ASA Nationals.

He started with the 400m Freestyle entering in at 5:03:00, in his heat he did extremely well gaining a 13 second PB and finishing in 4:50:09.

Ryan's favourite event is the 50m Freestyle. Finishing 1st in his heat he gained a superb PB and finished in 27.99 putting him in 4th for the final. He swam even better in the final gaining another pb, beating his time by 0.23 and just scraped 3rd position by 0.03 of a second! This has now made Ryan the fastest S9 in Britain!!

Ryan's most important race was the 100m Freestyle. This is the event that his classification is allocated to swim in The Commonwealth Games 2014 in Glasgow. He was determined to get close to the entry time of 1:00:76, and he did just that by finishing in a time of 1:01:89 in the heat and an even better time of 1:00:93 in the final. Just 0.17 seconds away from his dream. This has set Ryan on track for the first chance to qualify in March 2014.

Next stop, Glasgow !!!!
